Imagine choosing your dream job at the tender age of 6 and being told by anyone and everyone that you will eventually change your mind, yet starting University pursuing that same dream job, and having one year left until you are finally living your dream. Overwhelming right?
I feel overwhelmed every day. I am so lucky that I am on a course which will lead me into my dream job of teaching. For those who still don’t know what your dream career is – you have a wonderful thing called time, and life is full of surprises.
Studying is as much about receiving as it is about giving. If you don’t get enjoyment or satisfaction from your course of study, then ask yourself why? What would make you happy? Then make a change! There are many advisers at University who can give guidance and support on this, so use them.
Whenever I am feeling particularly stressed and drained, I always remind myself of why I am at University, why I am studying, what that dream I had when I was 6 years old was.
I live for those moments where I feel like I am making an impact on the lives of the children that I teach, and this could be something as small as a child joining their handwriting for the first time – yet it means so much to me.
Whenever I experience these moments, I feel a huge sense of pride and believe that the cogs are finally starting to fit together and turn.
If you can take anything from this post I hope that it is to never lose sight of the goal. Strive for it and maintain the determination – I promise it will be worth it!
