As a homegrown Worcester girl, I struggle to find a restaurant I have not yet eaten in, so here are some of my favourites for students on a budget!
The best thing about the Slug & Lettuce is that on a Monday the food is half price (drinks remain full price). The Slug & Lettuce is located just opposite Subway and McDonalds on Foregate Street. It’s a massive building so you can’t really miss it, and is also a great destination for drinks before a night out!
There are two Wetherspoons in the centre of town within 5 minutes walking distance of one another, The Crown which is next to HSBC bank and The Postal Order which is to the left hand side of Foregate Street Train Station.
There are regular food deals on and more often than not, the meals come with a drink be it a pint, a glass of wine or a soft drink. And aside from this, there are daily deals on too.
- Tuesday is Steak club
- Wednesday is Chicken club (the chicken wings are really good!)
- Thursday is Curry club
- Friday is Fish Friday
- and on Sunday there’s a deal for a good ol’ roast dinner
There are two Harvesters in Worcester just a short drive out of the City Centre. If you are a die-hard Harvester fan, then you will know the score, but for those who haven’t visited a Harvester before, it’s affordable. You get unlimited use of the salad bar with every meal and the bottomless soft drinks save you a lot of money!
A City is not a City without a Nando’s – luckily Worcester has one! It is located next to Vue Cinema just a short walk down from the Cathedral. The meals are tasty and affordable with the bottomless soft drinks option, which I always go for. In addition to dining in, they also have a takeaway service.
Zizzi is my favourite place to eat for good quality Italian food! They always have deals on for students with an NUS Extra Card saving you up to 40% and the atmosphere in the Worcester restaurant is lovely. It is located opposite the Cathedral with the Elgar statue on its doorstep.
So, all that’s left to say is Happy Eating! You will soon come to realise the many places to eat out in Worcester as you become more familiar with the City, bon appétit!
