Gold Star for Unitots

Looking around for potential nurseries for your little one/s can be a daunting and confusing experience. Is it the right place for your child? Will they settle in? Will they make friends and have fun? Is it the right environment for them? Will they learn and thrive?

I asked my colleague Georgie to share her thoughts on the University’s own nursery and here’s what she had to say…

“Unitots, the University’s nursery on St. John’s campus, has an outstanding Ofsted rating and both of my sons have been lucky enough to go there.

With my eldest son, we looked around a number of different nurseries, but as I was going back to University, Unitots seemed like the logical option as it was right on the campus where I would be studying.

But aside from the convenience, my instinct was telling me that this was the place my son should go. The staff seemed great and it appeared to be very well run.

As he started at Unitots, it was a stressful time for both of us, but each child is assigned a key worker, and my son formed a great relationship with his, and other staff members, really quickly.

It is obvious that the staff really care about the children, which is so reassuring when it comes to leaving them in the morning. It’s great to know that however upset they are, as you drop them off and walk away, they will be comforted and cared for, and inevitably by the time you go back to pick them up, they are having so much fun they won’t want to come home!

Unitots has some incredible facilities, including an enormous outdoor space, with play equipment, forest school and a new mud kitchen.

They also make use of the facilities on campus, such as the gym and sports centre, and regularly go out on nature walks. On a number of occasions I have glanced out of a window to see one of my sons walking past, which never fails to brighten my day!

They also have some great events throughout the year, including an Easter egg hunt, a Christmas production, and a pre-school sports day in the summer.

When it came time for my youngest son to go to nursery, we didn’t look anywhere else – we wanted him to go to Unitots and enjoy the same stimulating environment and fantastic care that our eldest had benefited from.

He is thriving there too. After a few separation issues at the start (well, he is a Mummy’s boy!), he now loves it. He adores the staff and is always so happy when I pick him up at the end of the day.

If you’re looking for childcare for your little one, and wondering what to do and where to send them, I can’t recommend Unitots enough. I certainly wouldn’t want my kids to have gone anywhere else. To contact them, call 01905 855277 or email: unitots@worc.ac.uk.”
