It may seem that everyone has been going on about personal statements a lot recently, then again you may be thinking “my personal what?” whatever end of the spectrum you are on, here is a little rundown of the basics when it comes to writing your personal statement.
What is UCAS?
UCAS stands for the University and College Admission Service and acts as the point of liaison between you and the universities that you apply for. This means that you apply once through UCAS and they do the rest. They’ll also tell you about any offers, interviews or rejections that you receive.
I had no idea what ‘UCAS’ was or what it meant until I was in the sixth form. I finally learned that UCAS stood for ‘University and Colleges Admission Service’ and that I would be applying for university through UCAS!
There are moments in life when you want something so badly that all your energy is going in that one direction. That for me is my dream of becoming a teacher.
Lots of people have spoken about how important it is to get work experience in your chosen future career to show future employers that you are passionate and committed about the field.
It’s coming to that time of year where you are putting the final touches to your application. Depending on your school’s deadlines you may have already sent it off already (congratulations!) or you might still be writing your personal statement (don’t panic – you’ve got till the deadline of January 15th ).
It’s this time of the year that all of you, who are now applying to universities, probably are a bit worried about your results – whether you’ve made it, or you didn’t perform that well…
