We all need a way to let off some steam and have some fun with a group of friends, people from our course or even our flatmates, right? Well, here are a few ways to enjoy your free time at university.
Tabletop and Board Games
Sometimes the best way to enjoy yourself is to spend the odd Saturday night rolling dice and moving pieces across a game board with a couple of friends. From Monopoly to Dungeons and Dragons, games where you’re sat around a table sharing a drink, a laugh, and a funny story are good way to chill out after a week at university. And who knows, you may end up making it a regular plan from week to week.

Clubs and Societies
Clubs and societies vary in almost everything you can do. You might want to try American football or sing your heart out with musical theatre. Whatever interests you, there’s probably a society or club for it. If there isn’t, you can create your own. To top it all off, societies organise socials which are a good place to meet people who share a particular interest. You might even surprise yourself and join a club or society that you never thought you normally would enjoy.

Cooking a group meal
Now while this may sound daunting, cooking a meal for your flat or a group of friends can be a very rewarding experience where everybody can pitch in and help. Meals can range from simple to complex; whether it’s a bowl of cheesy nachos to share around a table with some dips, or a dish of lasagne that can be plated up. If you’re in need of some inspiration, take a look at our easy meals fit for student budgets. Regardless of which you go with, your friends and flatmates alike will appreciate the gesture and may even return the favour.

Explore
Often, a bit of aimless wandering is just what you need after a day’s worth of lectures and seminars. It may seem like a simple and obvious thing to say, but getting to know the local area outside of your campus and halls is both a beneficial and enjoyable experience. You can find different routes around the city or find a restaurant or shop hiding around the corner. It never hurts to let your wanderlust take over and walk around for a bit after a day’s study

Movie Night
The classic movie night can be the go-to way to have the most fun whilst doing as little as possible and doesn’t hurt include your flatmates in on the fun too. Nothing really beats gathering around the TV with a few snacks to enjoy some good, old-fashioned entertainment. Whether you’re binge-watching your favourite streaming series or re-watching a classic popcorn movie, you can’t really go wrong.
