Hi everyone, my name is Lotta, and I am a second year Biomedical Science student at the University of Worcester. I came to Worcester from Finland in 2019 and based on my experiences, I want to tell you 5 reasons that make University of Worcester an amazing choice for international students.
1. approximately 70 Different Nationalities
The University of Worcester arranges student recruitment events all around the world. International students are an important part of the student population (Approximately 10% of all students) and different nationalities extend not just to our amazing students, but also the University staff! By bringing so many nationalities together, you can make friends from all around the world, experience different cultures, and join an open international community that supports one another.
We have representatives for Argentina, Nigeria, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Guyana, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, India, Japan, Jamaica and many more!
2. Cultural Societies
Our students run our Social and Cultural Societies and play a huge role in coordinating our Sports Teams. The idea behind Cultural Societies is to make friends, ease homesickness, learn more about the culture and enjoy the academic year through variety of events! We have African and Caribbean Society and Finnish Society, who both gained the Bronze Society status by contributing to the University community by arranging events throughout the academic year.

3. Amazing Events and Celebrations from all Around the World
Our International Team is amazing at arranging events, making sure new international students adapt, and bringing cultural celebrations to our University from all around the world! In recent years, we have celebrated Chinese New Year, Holi, and Diwali. The entry to events has always been free and you get to experience traditional cuisine related to the origin country. There’s often different entertainment at events such as talent shows, henna tattoos, face painting and colour fun. However, the most important part is that you get to know a new culture or your ease homesickness!

4.International Students’ Network
Students’ Networks are groups led by students which exist to connect underrepresented areas of the student population, enhance diversity on campus, build communities, discuss and highlight current issues, empower like-minded students to bring about change and make a difference! We have Students’ Network for International students and the joining is completely free. Like societies, Networks also arrange events for their members, and it is an amazing opportunity to share ideas with other international students and make new friends.
